D6 Families
The D6 principal is based on Deuteronomy 6:6-9, where God gives specific instructions to families in regards to training their children as disciples of Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9
6And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
It is the responsibility of the family to raise up Godly children for Christ. We believe that family discipleship is important for the following reasons:
-
Because it is Biblically mandated
-
Because family is our 1st Ministry
-
Because our legacy will speak for us long after we are gone
-
Because the family is under attack

At BVCC, we encourage each parent to be the primary disciple maker for their families. This means that the responsibility to teach children about God rests primarily upon parents. The church is a place to become empowered to lead the family into a relationship with the Lord. The following methods are used by families at BVCC to disciple children to be followers of Christ:
-
Education: Baptist Catechism for Young Children
-
Family Worship Time
-
Modeling Christ Before Children
-
Intentional Parenting (Biblical Fatherhood and Motherhood)
